(Image above is the Downtown Location, I wasn't able to get the Mira Mesa photo. My phone was being retarded.)
The kebab shop is a WELCOME addition to the Mira Mesa lineup of comestibles. Especially since we lost our Teo Leos and on top of it they resurrected a worthless Walgreens (when a CVS is across the street.) This shop is excellent because it replaced a redundant Starbucks, where there were a total of 4 in less than a square mile. So I'm as pleased as pie that we get ANOTHER chance at decent fast-food Mediterranean.
What do we have? Daphne's? Please. The Kebab Shop is to Daphne's like Fins is to Rubios. It's like... In-N-Out is to Burger King. It's like Cotixans compared to Santanas.
It's a great specialty fast food joint compared to a par specialty fast food joint. (Okay, take out the In-N-Out/Burger King comparison)
You get a simple set of choices...
- Doner kebab (Greek Burrito)
- Kebab Burgers
- Kebab plates
And your filling choices are:
- Lamb
- Chicken
- Falafel
They also have a handful of Mediterranean style salads, and offer baklava.
Keep it simple stupid has never been any easier.
I had the Lamb Doner Kebab, and it was damn good. The wrap wasn't stale or flimsy. The vegetables were fresh, crunchy, and flavorful. The lamb was succulent and juicy, spiced perfectly. The zatziki is slightly spicy, tangy and very tasty.
The price is reasonable. The fries are alright, but nothing spectacular.
If you LIKE any of those types of foods listed above, they cook all of them EXCELLENTLY.
It's a great lunch place, and overall a fantastic place to grab a quick Greekish meal.
Leave Daphne's to the chumps and hit up the Kebab Shop.
I only give it a 9, because a 10 needs to explode my balls.
Food that explodes my balls is awesome.
So my balls were set aflame, but not quite exploding.
I'll let you know when the balls explode.
